Teatrino di Palazzo Grassi – Pinault Collection

About this event
Hosted by Casa delle Parole as part of its long-standing programme of literary readings, La Casa in India · Beit-e-Bhārat brings the Venetian literary association together with the India Pavilion, in partnership with Serendipity Arts, on the occasion of the 61st International Art Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia. For over twenty years, Casa delle Parole has brought together people from different countries and cultures through monthly readings at the Teatrino di Palazzo Grassi – Pinault Collection, giving voice to the cosmopolitan character of Venice through literary texts shared in their original languages and in Italian translation.
Acclaimed poet and cultural theorist Ranjit Hoskote brings together a curated selection of poetry reflecting the idea of home and belonging. The poems represent ten of the Subcontinent’s languages: Sanskrit, Pali, Kannada, Kashmiri, Hindi/Brajbhasha, Urdu, Gujarati, Marathi, Bangla, and English.
The poems comprising La Casa in India · Beit-e-Bhārat take the listener across diverse forms and tonalities, from an invocation to infinity in the Upanishads, composed in the 5th century BCE, to works by the contemporary poets Subhro Bandopadhyay and Ranjit Hoskote, bringing the readings into the vexed, turbulent yet vibrant present.
